“The secret to modeling is not being perfect. What one needs is a face that people can identify in a second. You have to be given what’s needed by nature, and what’s needed is to bring something new.”
– Karl Lagerfeld
Behind the scenes…
Scientists discover that humans have 21 different facial expressions – more than three times the long-accepted figure of six. I guess this intrigued my mom to take photos of me in our walk-in closet. Most times I am never opposed to taking photos; other times I find myself reminding my mom that I am only 6 years old and I just want to play. At this particular time, I was game for it. After all, it is my mum and I wanted to make her happy. She just came home with a Floral Gucci Dress from Nordstrom for my birthday and a few colored foam boards to use for photographic backgrounds that she wanted to test out. I was game for a few head-shots! I mean… this is almost the only time she uses her expensive make up on me. She gave me a very very “soft beat” using her Anastasia Beverly Hills Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit and Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Pencil. Excited I was… until I saw her old Polaroid camera on the floor that distracted me and I wanted to play with it. 5 more shots she told me… she just needed five more photographs. Turn your head Ahnari, chin down Ahnari, smile Ahnari, look away Ahnari, look at me Ahnari, put your head straight Ahnari, said face Ahnari. I’m like okay mom, you said one more! You keep saying one more and I want to go play now, you said I can play after 5 more (clicks). I’m tired of making these faces. You said 5 more and then I can play with your camera… So we finally stopped at the last photo (see last photo) because at this point I was really sad (in a mischievous way) and she finally relinquished me.
